My Computer... And how I got it working

I spent the better part of a week setting up my PC to the way I wanted it, then realised that it wasn't quite right, and have probably spent the equivalent of another week getting it right. This is where I'm going to log all the stuff I've used, and info on how I got it going, and hits for myself (and others) for next time.

Gentoo Linux

I loaded Gentoo Linux from Stage 1. This was great, except for the hours and hours it took to compile everything. Get info on installing here. I also used the following Configuration Guides.. All excellent.
LVM Configuration Guide

Desktop Configuration Guide
ALSA Configuration Guide

HP LaserJet 1000

I bought this printer thinking it was a great deal (200 bucks for an HP laser?) but then got home and realised it's got some funky hardware, and requires an eprom flash every time it starts up... Luckily, someone's figured out how to use this in linux check out here and here.

Fujifilm Camera

I had my good camera stolen and had to go back to my older Fujifilm 2400Zoom. I got info on how to get that to function from here.

CDR

Got both my cdrs going! Ya! One was SCSI and worked fine right away with the exceptions of permission trouble. The other worked after configuring GRUB to use SCSI-IDE emulation driver. I got hints here. I also got info from here [french].

I'd crawl over an acre of 'Visual This++' and 'Integrated Development That' to get to gcc, Emacs, and gdb. Thank you.
